Bravado doesn’t do boring snacks so neither should you. We are talking savory, bold, and ready in just under an hour. Careful, one handful will not be enough!

Let’s be honest, store bought party snacks are boring, but they are easy. And cheap. At Bravado, we set out to offer a few party snack mixes that are cheap to create, easy to throw together, and live up to the standard of flavor that Bravado Spice fans expect and love. Cheesy Taco Snack Mix is our latest addition to our snack mix recipes. We wanted to create a more local flavor to Houston. If you know about Houston, you know about tacos! Toasty grains, sharp cheese, and two of our favorite ingredients, garlic and cumin. Each handful gives you airy crisp from the Chex cereal, load crunch from the corn chips, and sharp snap from the cheese crackers. The real magic, the ingredient that makes this stand out from the common snack mix, is the seasoning. Instead of the generic taco seasoning packet, this cheesy taco snack mix recipe uses a generous amount of Bravado Spice Garlic & Arbol Seasoning to really bring out the taco flavors. The chile de árbol brings a clean, smoky heat that compliments the savory flavors of garlic and paprika. We didn’t stop there. Why would we? We added in a little known ingredient that makes this recipe sing. Nutritional yeast. This adds a cheesy, umami depth that makes every piece a slight bit more flavorful. Right at the end, a fresh lime zest rounds out the richness. Try it out and let us know what you think in the comments!

Ingredients

4 cups rice Chex cereal
2 cups corn chips (like Fritos)
2 cups cheese crackers
1 Tbsp Bravado Spice Garlic & Árbol Seasoning
1.5 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp nutritional yeast
½ tsp grated lime zest
6 Tbsp melted butter

Directions

Preheat oven to 275°F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cereal, chips and crackers. Set aside.
In a small bowl, combine Bravado Spice Co. Garlic & Árbol Seasoning, cumin, nutritional yeast and lime zest.
Sprinkle seasoning mixture over the cereal mixture. Add the melted butter and stir gently until well combined.
On a prepared baking sheet, spread the mixture into one even layer. You may need to use 2 baking sheets depending on size.
Bake for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally throughout the baking process.
Remove from oven and allow to cool before serving. Enjoy!

For a gluten-free version: Swap the cheese crackers with pretzels.
For a dairy-free version: Swap the butter with an equal amount of coconut oil and pretzels instead of cheese crackers.
