Pineapple & Habanero Ham & Cheese Hot Pockets

JUMP TO RECIPE

Ham and cheese is comfort food on autopilot. Reliable, satisfying, a little forgettable. Bravado Spice Pineapple & Habanero Hot Sauce is what makes it memorable. Sweet pineapple cuts the saltiness of the ham. Bright habanero heat wakes up the cheese. Spread inside the pocket and drizzled over the top after baking, it lands twice in every bite.

Recipe Notes

Ham and cheese is comfort food on autopilot. Reliable, satisfying, a little forgettable. Bravado Spice Pineapple & Habanero Hot Sauce is what makes it memorable. Sweet pineapple cuts the saltiness of the ham. Bright habanero heat wakes up the cheese. Spread inside the pocket and drizzled over the top after baking, it lands twice in every bite.

A note on the dough: Skip the extra-buttery or flaky crescent varieties. They taste great on their own but don't hold up to filling. They tear and leak. Stick with the original Pillsbury Crescent Dinner Rolls or the equivalent store brand.

These travel well. Lunchboxes, tailgates, road trips, late-night kitchen raids. They also reheat at 350°F for 5 minutes without going soggy.

Want to switch it up? The crescent pocket is a blank canvas, so here are a few variations worth trying:

  • Pepperoni Pizza Pocket: Use pizza sauce as the spread, swap the ham for sliced pepperoni, and use mozzarella instead of American cheese. Drizzle Serrano & Basil over the top after baking.
  • Breakfast Pocket: Sub the ham for crumbled bacon and add a scramble of one egg. Hit it with Aka Miso Ghost-Reaper for an umami punch.

Reaper-level heat: Same recipe, but use Black Garlic & Carolina Reaper instead of Pineapple & Habanero. Not for the faint of heart.
