Spicy Cheddar Scones

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, hot sauce, salt, baking powder, and sugar.
  3. In the base of a food processor add the flour mixture and butter and pulse 2-4 times until the mixture is crumbly. You can also do this step by hand in a bowl. Mix in the cheese and green onion.
  4. Add heavy cream starting with ¾ cup and the hot sauce, gently folding. Add remaining cream slowly, if needed, until the dough comes together. Dough will be somewhat rough-textured.
  5. Transfer dough to a floured surface and gently shape into a disc.
  6. Using a knife, cut dough into 8 triangular pieces and place onto a baking sheet lined parchment paper. Optional: brush each piece with a heavy cream for a crispier top.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes, until golden. Serve warm or at room temp.
