Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, stirring to combine.
  2. Adjust hot sauce for heat / taste. Adjust salt for taste.
  3. Top with chopped cilantro and serve as a side dish or with chips as a tasty appertizer.
  4. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

  • The Beans: If you don't have both black beans and black-eyed peas, you can use all of one type. Drained, rinsed chickpeas would also be a great addition.
  • Make it Ahead: This dip is even better after it sits for an hour or two, as the flavors meld together. If you're making it more than a few hours ahead, wait to add the tomatoes and any avocado until just before serving to keep them fresh.
  • Serving Ideas: It's a classic dip with tortilla chips, but it's also fantastic served as a relish over grilled chicken or fish.
